The rules
- Market
- United States · prices in USD
- Verified · Sep 8
- Delivery
- Free flat-rate service quoted at 9–17 business days; dispatch origin not stated
Details
Modlily’s shipping page gives three US services: Flat Rate, free on orders over $15 and quoted at 9–17 business days; Standard, priced by weight, 8–15 business days; and Expedited, 3–7 business days. Processing time is added on top and is not fixed. The home-page banner we saw advertised free shipping over $79, so read the threshold at checkout. The policy does not say where parcels ship from; the operator is registered in Hong Kong and the transit times fit dispatch from abroad. Final Sale, Lucky Bag and “Pick one more” promotions are excluded from free shipping. A parcel marked delivered counts as delivered; non-receipt claims must be raised within two months of dispatch.

- Returns
- 30 days from delivery; label from $10.99 deducted from the refund; one free exchange per order
Details
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for unworn, unstained items in original condition; swimsuits must still have the hygiene liner attached. Not returnable: beach blankets, swimming rings, sunglasses, jewellery, hair accessories, anything labelled “No returns or exchanges” and items excluded for hygiene reasons. You pay return shipping: Modlily’s weight-based label costs at least US$10.99 and is deducted from the refund, or you can post with your own tracked carrier to the return address in New Jersey. Original shipping and insurance fees are not refunded. Each order gets one free exchange for a size, colour or item of equal or lower price; exchanged items cannot be returned again. Refunds are processed within seven business days of receipt.

- Import fees
- Policy says duties are “normally” not charged, but any customs bill is yours to pay first
Details
The shipping page says customers are “normally” not assessed additional duties or taxes on standard shipping, then adds that customs taxes vary by country and are charged according to local rules; if you do pay one, you are told to keep the receipt and contact support. That matters for US buyers because the duty-free de minimis allowance for parcels under $800 was suspended for all countries from 29 August 2025, so a parcel posted from abroad can now attract a charge at the door. Modlily does not name a dispatch origin and, unlike some competitors, does not state that duties are included in the price. Read the order total at checkout and keep any carrier receipt.

- Payment
- Cards, PayPal, Klarna and Afterpay; refunds land in a Modlily wallet first
Details
Modlily lists PayPal, credit and debit cards, Afterpay (four instalments over six weeks) and Klarna (US loans issued by WebBank). The payment page says Modlily itself does not collect card numbers. We found no mention of Apple Pay, Google Pay or gift cards. Refunds go first to a Modlily wallet, normally within one business day; the balance can be spent on the site or withdrawn to PayPal or a bank account at any time, and the return policy quotes about 48 hours for PayPal and 10–20 business days for cards after that. With a pay-in-four service a returned order still has instalments in flight until the refund lands, so keep the return tracking number.

- Support
- Live chat, email and tickets; no phone; BBB flagged an “up to 85% off” claim in 2023
Details
Support is by 24/7 live chat, email, a ticket system or Facebook Messenger; no telephone number is published. Public records are mixed. Trustpilot shows 4.2/5 from 12,744 reviews, 69% five-star and 21% one-star, with the one-star reviews concentrated on delivery time, sizing and return costs. The BBB profile (Cedar Grove, New Jersey; not accredited, not rated, complaints handled by another BBB) shows no complaints or reviews but records an advertising review from 11 October 2023: BBB asked Modlily to modify or remove an “up to 85% Off” claim and the company did not respond. Both review samples are self-selected — they show what goes wrong, not how often.

Swimwear
Worth it
- Tankinis, one-pieces, swim dresses and mix-and-match pieces: the widest range, at $25–40
- Returnable within 30 days as long as the hygiene liner is untouched
- One free exchange per order is the cheap fix for a size miss
Skip
- Holidays within three weeks: the free service is quoted at 9–17 business days
- Final Sale or Lucky Bag swim sets: no free shipping and often no returns
- Beach blankets and swimming rings, which cannot be returned
Check first
- Bust, waist and hip against Modlily’s own chart, not US ready-to-wear sizes
- Whether a “set” listing includes both pieces: mix-and-match pieces sell separately
- Hygiene liner still attached when trying on: without it, no return
Dresses & tops
Worth it
- Tunics, blouses, tees, sweatshirts, cardigans and casual midi and maxi dresses at $20–40
- The low-risk buys: unworn, they go back within 30 days
- A size swap uses the free exchange rather than a paid label
Skip
- Fitted styles judged from a photo: fabric weight and stretch are rarely stated
- Final Sale and Clearance items marked “No returns or exchanges”
- Several sizes to try: only the first exchange is free, labels from $10.99
Check first
- Fabric percentages on the listing: “polyester blend” without numbers usually means polyester
- Length measurements: models photograph tall and tunics look longer than they are
- Final Sale or Lucky Bag marking, which changes shipping and return terms
Outerwear & coats
Worth it
- Lightweight jackets, shackets, vests and cardigan-style coats, at the top of the price range
- The most forgiving on fit: a little room is usually fine
- The 30-day return applies, and the higher price makes a $10.99-plus label proportionate
Skip
- Coats for real cold: fill and lining are seldom specified beyond “polyester”
- Anything needed before the season turns: allow three to four weeks for delivery
- Faux-leather pieces with no material given, and anything in the Final Sale section
Check first
- Shoulder and sleeve measurements on the chart: outerwear is graded to layer
- Lining and shell fabric named on the listing
- The delivery estimate at checkout against the date you need it
Plus-size, bottoms & accessories
Worth it
- Plus-size tops, dresses and swimwear in 1X–3X, listed as a dedicated range
- Pants, leggings, shorts and skirts where the listing gives waist and hip measurements
- Bottoms are the most measurable items, so a careful chart read avoids most returns
Skip
- Jewellery, sunglasses and hair accessories: cheap, but excluded from returns
- Shoes and intimates unless the listing states a return-eligible condition
- Lucky Bags and “Pick one more” bundles: no free shipping, and sold blind
Check first
- Your measurement on the 1X–3X plus chart: regular sizes may grade differently
- Inseam for pants and leggings, as one length is usual
- Whether an accessory appears on the no-return list before you add it
Questions
Is Modlily a real company and where is it based?
Yes, a brand-owned store. Its About page names Hongkong Yuzhen E-Commerce Co., Limited at a Kowloon address it says is not for shipping or returns; returns go to New Jersey, where the BBB file sits. The risk is delivery time, fit and a paid return.
How long does delivery take and where does it ship from?
The policy quotes 9–17 business days for the free flat-rate service, 8–15 standard and 3–7 expedited, plus unspecified processing. Modlily names no dispatch origin, and Trustpilot reviewers describe parcels taking several weeks. Plan for three to four weeks unless you pay for expedited.
What does a return actually cost?
At least $10.99 for Modlily’s label, deducted from the refund, or your own tracked postage to New Jersey; original shipping and insurance fees are not refunded either way. The first exchange per order is free, so swap a size rather than return it.
How are the picks on this page chosen?
A script reads Modlily’s feed nightly and selects in-stock items per category priced roughly $12–80 with a plausible discount, recording the price it saw. Editors can pin or hide items. Nothing is chosen for its payout, and we have worn or tested none of it.
Do you earn from these links?
Yes. Links to Modlily are affiliate links through Impact and we may earn a commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. That does not change what we tell you to skip, and it does not put a pick on the page.
