Lyca’s current pages describe “one of the top operators in the US” whose network covers over 99% of the population and reaches 300 million people with 5G (Lyca blog, 15 June 2026), but do not name it; an older Lyca page calls T-Mobile the underlying carrier. Trade press reported in September 2025 that Lyca’s T-Mobile agreement ended for new activations on 20 September 2025 and that the replacement carrier was AT&T; WhistleOut’s review (updated 21 May 2026) and CoverageMap state AT&T outright. Lyca had not confirmed it in the sources we read. Plan pages warn that service may be unavailable in “off-net areas”. Check the coverage map and the phone-compatibility check on lycamobile.us for your address and IMEI before buying.

On 8 September 2026 the plans page listed 30-day plans at $19 (5 GB), $23 (8 GB), $29 (15 GB), $33 (18 GB, with 10 GB of hotspot data) and $39 (25 GB), each with unlimited US talk and text and unlimited calls to 100 countries, plus “Unlimited Plus” at $18 and “Unlimited Pro” at $29.50 with full speed for the first 50 GB. Plan pages label these as promotional prices for six months, available only with auto-renewal; the standard price afterwards is not shown alongside. After the high-speed allowance is used, speeds are reduced for the rest of the period. All website purchases carry a 5% regulatory recovery fee, and plans are valid only for use from the US.

The plan pages state in capitals that enrolment in auto-renewal is required to obtain the discounted price, which applies to the initial 30-day plan and the number of renewals indicated, contingent on staying enrolled. Lyca’s help pages on “why was my plan renewed automatically” and “how to set up auto-renewal” exist, but their body text did not load for us, so we cannot quote how to switch renewal off or when the card is charged; the Terms & Conditions page did not load either, so we found no refund policy. Third-party reviews describe turning renewal off in the My Lyca app or by calling 612. Treat a Lyca plan as a recurring charge until you have confirmed it is off.

Public record read on 8 September 2026: the Better Business Bureau profile for Lycamobile USA Inc., 24 Commerce St, Newark, NJ, shows an F rating and no accreditation, citing failure to respond to 49 complaints and 8 complaints not resolved. WhistleOut’s review, updated 21 May 2026, gave customer service 1 out of 5 after chat agents disconnected mid-conversation. These are self-selected samples; they tell you what goes wrong, not how often, but the pattern is consistent across sources.

Lyca sells plans, SIMs and eSIMs online and through retailers, and its plan pages say every website purchase carries a 5% regulatory recovery fee on top of the price. We looked for a list of accepted payment methods (cards, PayPal, wallets) on the plans, help and terms pages and did not find one that loaded; the checkout will show what is accepted. Because promotional prices depend on auto-renewal, the card you use at checkout becomes the card charged each period — use one you can monitor, and expect the renewal charge to include the fee.

Do I have to accept auto-renewal?
